This policy explains what happens to your information when you visit booksthatmakeyousmarter.com (the "site"). The site is operated by Paul Kendall, Guelph, Ontario, Canada, under the business name PGK Sales. You can reach Paul at [email protected].
The short version
- The site has no accounts, no sign-up forms and no comment section.
- The site itself does not set cookies or store anything in your browser.
- If you email Paul, he sees your address and your message and uses them to reply.
- Your information is not sold.
What the site collects
Emails you send. If you write to [email protected], Paul receives your email address, your name if you include it, and your message. He uses them to reply, to make a correction, or to tell you when a book is out if you ask. Messages are kept for as long as they are useful and are deleted on request.
Server and security data. The site is hosted on Cloudflare. When you load a page, Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, so that it can deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Paul does not use this to identify you. See the Cloudflare privacy policy.
Fonts. The site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts. Your browser contacts Google to download them, and Google receives your IP address and browser details when it does. See the Google Privacy Policy.
Audio samples
The audio samples are files stored on this site and are played in your browser. If an audio file cannot load, your browser may read the sample aloud using the voice built into your device. That speech happens on your device and is not sent to Paul.
Advertising
This site is set up to show ads from Google AdSense. Whenever ads are shown, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies and similar technology, including your IP address, to show ads and to measure them. Some ads may be based on your past visits to this and other sites. You can manage or turn off personalized ads in Google Ads Settings, and learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can also opt out of many third-party ad networks at optout.aboutads.info. Where the law requires it, for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, visitors are asked for consent before personalized ads are shown.
Links to other sites
The site links to Amazon, where the books are sold, and to other sites such as derkswade.com. Those sites have their own privacy practices. Amazon handles your purchase, payment details and Kindle library, and Paul does not receive your payment information.
Children
The site is written for adults and is not directed to children under 13. Paul does not knowingly collect information from children.
Your choices and rights
Because the site holds almost no personal information, there is little to manage. You can ask Paul to tell you what he holds about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Email [email protected]. Depending on where you live, laws such as Canada's PIPEDA, the EU and UK GDPR, and the California Consumer Privacy Act may give you additional rights, and Paul will honour them. You can also limit cookies in your browser settings.
Where information is processed
Cloudflare and Google run services in many countries, so technical data from your visit may be processed outside Canada, including in the United States.
Changes to this policy
If the site changes in a way that affects your privacy, for example by adding analytics, this page will be updated first and the date at the top will change.
